This module provides a general review of pediatric anatomy in the realm of extracorporeal support. Upon completion of this module, the learner will understand pediatric anatomy as it relates to providing extracorporeal support such as anatomical variation in different age groups and anatomical considerations in various congenital defects. It will give a basis of understanding when learning various cannulation techniques and physiologic considerations in later modules.


At the completion of this course the learner will be able to:

1. Identify normal pediatric anatomy.

2. Define and identify cyanotic cardiac defects.

3. Identify Acyanotic defects.

4. Describe and identify congenital GI defects.


Expected time to complete this class: 50 minutes.
