Patient Blood Management (PBM) is an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach to optimizing the care of patients who might need transfusion. After analyzing current research this class defines the aims, goals and makes suggestions to consider if you are planning to organize PBM program at your institution.

Course Objectives
1. Define PBM and its goals.

2. Describe how to build a PBM program.

3. Characterize benefits of a PBM program.

4. Analyze current trends in the research.

Per the ABCP, a maximum of ten (10) SDCE I CEU's may be used for professional activity recertification within a three year period reporting cycle. Members may submit additional Category III CEU's.

This class will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.
